Design

In design, we use Computer Aided Design software, namely Autodesk Fusion 360, to design the robot. We begin the process of building the robot by designing it using Fusion 360 and other software. Not only do we create the designs in CAD, but we create the actual designs for the robot!

• Throughout the year, our subgroup designs systems for our robots, and brainstorms cool designs and structures to add to our robot.

• We are the subgroup that gets to decide how the robot will look like! It is incredibly satisfying seeing your designs built and incorporated into the final design of the robot. We truly bring the robot to life, from our minds, to the computer, to the physical robot itself.

Becoming a member of Design will teach you a lot. You will learn how to 3D model parts and assemblies on CAD software, transfer them into drawings, and how to make systems and designs more efficient. Even outside our build season, we are always brainstorming ways to make our robots more efficient, safe, and lightweight.
