Lightning Robotics thrives on the service of our volunteer mentor corps. Engineers, Parents, Teachers, Alumni, and Community members join together to guide our students through the build season and beyond. Thank you, Mentors!
The FIRST Team 862 Robotics Parents and Mentors Booster Club (RPM) was formed along with the team to provide its much-needed services. RPM membership combines all of our volunteers including: parents, engineers, Lightning Robotics Alumni, Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, friends and technical and non-technical members of the community.
In addition to mentoring the team, many parents provide cooking, transportation, and other services to the team, especially on build season Saturdays. This, in addition to assistance in robot design and build, is an essential component to our team.
We would like to recognize one former mentor in particular, Eddie McClendon III, who died of cancer while mentoring our team.
The photo below shows 862’s mentors at the team’s 2017 Banquet.
